Pune, November 2: A bomb threat email sent to the district and sessions court in Maharashtra’s Shivajinagar area of Pune triggered a security alert on Monday, prompting authorities to evacuate the court premises and launch a search operation.

A Pune Police officer said the court administration received an email claiming that a bomb had been placed inside the court building. Following the threat, people on the premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure and security arrangements were strengthened.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was summoned to inspect the premises. Police teams began searching the court complex for any suspected explosive or suspicious object.

The incident was not limited to Pune. District and sessions courts in Thane, Hingoli and Beed also received bomb threat emails on Monday, triggering security measures and search operations at those locations.

Police said preliminary searches at the court premises in Thane, Hingoli and Beed did not reveal anything suspicious. However, the search operation at Pune’s Shivajinagar court was still underway, and there was no confirmed report of any explosive device being found there.

Police and cybercrime teams have launched investigations to trace the origin of the threatening emails and establish whether the threats were genuine or hoaxes.
