Contributor Terms
NewzNow Contributor Terms (version 2026-11). These terms are between you and Media Byte Ventures, publisher of NewzNow ("NewzNow", "we"). By ticking "I agree" you accept them as a binding agreement under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
- Who may contribute. You must be 18 or older, give true details about yourself, and keep only one account. NewzNow may refuse, suspend or close any account at its sole discretion, without giving reasons.
- Purely voluntary. Your contribution is entirely voluntary, made in the public interest and to help build an informed, knowledge society. It does not entitle you to any payment, fee, royalty, honorarium, reimbursement or other benefit, unless NewzNow agrees to one separately in writing. Contributing does not make you an employee, staff reporter, agent, partner or representative of NewzNow.
- No use of NewzNow's name. You must not present yourself as a NewzNow reporter or employee, use NewzNow's name, logo, ID cards, microphones or vehicle stickers, or seek any accreditation, favour or access in NewzNow's name, unless NewzNow authorises it in writing.
- NewzNow's sole editorial right. NewzNow alone decides, at its sole and absolute discretion, whether to publish any submission, and when, where, in which language and in what form. NewzNow may edit, shorten, rewrite, translate, change the headline, add or remove photos, combine it with other reporting, give or withhold a byline, or not publish it at all, without notice or reasons. Sending a story does not mean it will be published.
- Licence to NewzNow. You keep the copyright in your original work, but you grant NewzNow a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to publish, reproduce, edit, adapt, translate, broadcast, distribute, archive and otherwise use it in any medium (website, e-paper, apps, social media, audio, video, print and syndication), now known or developed later. To the extent the law allows, you agree not to object to such use, editing or adaptation.
- What you promise. Every submission is true and accurate to the best of your knowledge, based on what you saw yourself or on sources you have checked, and is your own original work (or you hold all rights to it). It is not defamatory, obscene, false, misleading, hateful, communal, or likely to incite violence or disturb public order, and does not invade anyone's privacy. It does not reveal the identity of a victim of a sexual offence or of a child, as barred by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the POCSO Act, 2012 and the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. It respects court orders and does not amount to contempt. It follows the Code of Ethics under the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the Press Council of India's Norms of Journalistic Conduct, the Copyright Act, 1957 and every other applicable law. You have the consent needed for any photos or recordings, and you do not pass off fabricated, manipulated or AI-generated material as real (you must tell us whenever AI was used). You have not been paid or promised anything by anyone to send the story, and you will disclose any personal interest in it.
- Your responsibility. You alone are responsible for what you submit. You will indemnify and hold harmless NewzNow, its proprietor, editors, staff and partners against every claim, complaint, notice, loss, penalty, damages and legal cost arising from your submission or from a breach of these terms, and you will cooperate with NewzNow in any inquiry or legal proceeding about it.
- Corrections and takedown. At any time, with or without notice, NewzNow may correct, edit, add a clarification to, unpublish or remove any published contribution. This includes action on a complaint decided by NewzNow's Grievance Officer under the IT Rules, 2021, on an order of a court, government or self-regulating body, or on NewzNow's own editorial judgement. You will have no claim against NewzNow for any such action.
- Identity verification (KYC) and your data. You will provide identity details and documents for verification. NewzNow may verify them and contact you. NewzNow uses this data only to verify you, communicate with you, keep records and meet legal obligations. It is stored securely, never published, and shared only where the law requires (for example with courts or authorities). Only the last four characters of your ID number are kept. You consent to this processing under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You may ask to see or correct your data, or close your account; closing it does not withdraw the licence for material already submitted.
- Sources. Do not promise anyone that NewzNow will keep their identity confidential unless an editor has agreed to it. Tell the editors about any confidential source when you submit.
- Views and liability. Views in a contribution are the contributor's own. NewzNow is not liable to you for any loss arising from publishing, editing, not publishing or removing a contribution, or from any interruption of the service.
- Changes. NewzNow may change these terms. When it does, you will be asked to accept the new version before submitting again. Continuing to use the service means you accept the terms in force.
- Law and courts. These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Guwahati, Assam have exclusive jurisdiction.
- Language. These terms are also given in Assamese, Hindi and Bengali. If there is any difference, the English version prevails.
