BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Neha Bohra of insulting all priests through her remarks and alleged that she took inspiration from the turmoil in Bangladesh.
Bhatia referred to the coup and unrest in Bangladesh, alleging that Hindu women were abused and Hindus were killed there. He said Bohra was now humiliating priests.
He said Hindu society was tolerant and served society, while priests educated and cared for girls.
“This is our culture. But those who take inspiration from Bangladesh cannot understand our culture,” Bhatia said.
He challenged Bohra to make similar allegations against clerics in mosques and madrasas, and termed her remarks “selective outrage”.
