Banaskantha, October 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he would remain dedicated to serving the people of India until his last breath while addressing a public gathering at Bhildi in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.

His remarks came days after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s controversial comment. Without naming anyone directly, Modi also criticised the Opposition during his address.

Recalling his journey in public life, Modi said he took the oath of office for the first time on October 7, 2001. He said serving the people had remained the central focus of his journey and expressed gratitude to citizens for giving him the opportunity to serve Gujarat and the country.

“Service to the people leads to service to the nation,” he said, adding that the development of Gujarat contributes to the development of India. He credited fellow citizens for whatever he had been able to achieve for the country.

The Prime Minister also accused some people of spreading rumours about shortages of fertilisers and LPG amid the Iran war and tensions in the Gulf region. He alleged that such claims were intended to malign his government.

Speaking about farmers, Modi said the government had ensured that the impact of rising international fertiliser prices was not passed on to them. He also stated that Rs 4.5 lakh crore had been transferred to small farmers under the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi scheme.

Earlier, Modi inaugurated the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre at Bhildi and launched and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth more than Rs 14,000 crore in the region.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi were also present at the event.
