Guwahati , November 3:
‘Ramayana: Part One’ has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in worldwide opening-weekend advance bookings ahead of its November 5 theatrical release.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
According to trade estimates cited by Sacnilk, domestic advance bookings have crossed Rs 72 crore, including blocked seats. Overseas pre-sales have contributed more than Rs 40 crore, taking the worldwide advance-booking total beyond Rs 100 crore.
The film has also recorded strong demand in North America. More than 51,000 tickets have been sold for its November 4 paid previews in the US.
With this, ‘Ramayana’ has moved past estimated US premiere-ticket benchmarks associated with seven major Indian films, including ‘Animal’, ‘Jawan’, ‘Pushpa 2’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘RRR’, ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.
The film is now closing in on ‘Dhurandhar 2’, which has an estimated benchmark of around 52,000 US premiere tickets.
Trade projections suggest that ‘Ramayana’ could earn between $13 million and $14 million during its five-day North American opening. However, advance ticket sales and actual box-office collections are different measures.
‘Ramayana: Part One’ is the first instalment of a planned two-part adaptation. The second part is expected to release in 2027.
