November 3: Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a 14-year career representing Australia across all three formats.

The 38-year-old played seven Tests, 149 ODIs and 130 T20 Internationals for Australia. He scored 7,226 international runs and claimed 136 wickets.

Maxwell made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in Sharjah on August 25, 2012. He made his T20I debut against Pakistan later that year before making his Test debut against India in Hyderabad in March 2013.

One of the defining moments of his career came during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Chasing 292 against Afghanistan at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Australia were struggling at 91 for seven when Maxwell produced an unbeaten 201 off 128 balls despite battling severe cramps. His unbroken 202-run partnership with Pat Cummins helped Australia secure a remarkable victory.

Maxwell was part of Australia's ODI World Cup-winning teams in 2015 and 2023, as well as the T20 World Cup-winning side in 2021.

He had retired from ODI cricket in June 2025. His final international appearance came against Oman in the T20 World Cup Super Eights on February 20, 2026. Maxwell will continue playing franchise cricket and remains contracted to Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League until the end of the 2026-27 season.
