November 3: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has indicated that his party is prepared to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections independently, outside the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), if circumstances demand.
Speaking to ANI in Patna on Tuesday, Paswan said the party was “100 per cent prepared” for every eventuality and could field candidates in all 403 Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
He said an alliance would be welcome, but the party was keeping the option of contesting independently open.
“We are 100 per cent prepared for Uttar Pradesh. If an alliance arrangement takes shape, that would be a good thing. However, if circumstances demand otherwise, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is also prepared to contest all 403 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh independently,” Paswan said.
He pointed out that his party is part of the NDA at the national level and is also in an alliance in Bihar. It contested elections alongside alliance partners in Jharkhand and Delhi. In Nagaland, however, the party contested independently and currently has two MLAs.
As part of its preparations in Uttar Pradesh, the party will organise a major public meeting in Varanasi on November 5. Its foundation day celebrations are scheduled to take place in Lucknow on November 28.
Uttar Pradesh has 403 Assembly constituencies and is scheduled to go to polls in 2027. The LJP (Ram Vilas) is seeking to strengthen its political presence in the state ahead of the elections.
