Guwahati, November 5: The Asam Sahitya Sabha has announced five nominees for the post of president for the 2027–29 term. The names were finalised during a meeting of senior members held at the organisation’s headquarters.
The five nominees are Dr Karabi Deka Hazarika, Dr Anil Saikia, Prahlad Chandra Tasa, Thaneswar Malakar and Dr Jagadish Patgiri.
The next president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha will be selected from among these five nominees. However, the organisation has not yet announced the subsequent stages of the selection process or the schedule for the final announcement.
The Asam Sahitya Sabha has played a significant role in promoting Assamese language, literature and cultural heritage. The selection of its next president will determine the leadership of the organisation for the 2027–29 term.
