The Assam government declared a local holiday in Kamrup Metropolitan district on Monday, November 9, on the occasion of Diwali.
All state government offices, educational institutions and financial institutions in the district will remain closed.
The General Administration Department issued a notification on the Governor's instructions, bringing all state government offices and educational institutions in Kamrup Metropolitan district under the holiday.
Financial institutions will also remain closed on November 9 under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and a Union Home Ministry notification issued on June 8, 1957.
Diwali will be celebrated on Sunday, November 8.
