GUWAHATI, Nov 8: The Indigenous Tribal Literary Sabha, Assam (ITSSA) on Sunday demanded special TET examinations and the early appointment of at least two tribal language teachers in every school for languages introduced as mediums of instruction under the National Education Policy, 2020.
At its extended executive meeting at Janajati Jironi Chora in Paltan Bazar here, the organisation sought the appointment of teachers for Rabha, Mising, Tiwa, Deori, Dimasa, Karbi and other tribal languages. The meeting was chaired by ITSSA president Gobinda Taid.
The meeting also demanded the timely publication and supply of textbooks, steps to implement Bodo-medium education up to Class XII and Garo-medium education up to Class X, and the allotment of land proposed earlier in the organisation's name.
Members decided to hold the ITSSA general meeting by April 2027 and release an 11-language multilingual dictionary at the event. The dictionary includes Bodo, Rabha, Mising, Tiwa, Garo, Karbi, Deori, Dimasa, English, Assamese and Hindi.
The meeting adopted a condolence resolution and observed a minute of silence for Kamalakanta Mosahary, a founder and editor-in-chief of the organisation, a former three-term general secretary of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and its current vice-president.
It also appointed ITSSA secretary Yogeshwar Bordoloi as acting editor-in-chief. Representatives of the Bodo, Mising, Rabha, Deori, Garo, Karbi, Tiwa and Dimasa literary bodies attended the meeting.
