Tribal leader Nisha Bhagat from Jharkhand has died by suicide, according to a report by Aaj Tak. Before her death, she appeared on Facebook Live and levelled allegations against the Hemant Soren-led state government, the administration and some people linked to land-related matters.

During the live broadcast, Bhagat allegedly held the system and land mafia responsible for her death. She said she had been fighting for the rights of her community but had not received support when she needed it.

She criticised the state government and said she was being made to pay a price for exposing alleged shortcomings in its functioning. She also alleged that some people had harassed her and that the administration had failed to provide the assistance she sought.

Bhagat named Ajay Tirkey while questioning the administration's role. She claimed that she had repeatedly tried to approach officials over her safety and other problems but did not receive adequate help.

During the Facebook Live, she also spoke over the phone with the officer-in-charge of Pithoria police station. She expressed dissatisfaction with the police response and alleged that the police had failed to make an arrest in a theft case at her home. She also complained that no action had been taken against people she accused of defaming her.

Bhagat spoke about her parents and her struggle for the rights of the tribal community. She also said she had not received the expected support from political parties.
