November 3: Assam BJP MLA Diplu Ranjan Sarma has taken a dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him an “asset to the BJP” and alleging that his recent public speeches are politically benefiting the ruling party.
Speaking to the media in Guwahati, Sarma referred to Gandhi as “Rahul Frustrated Gandhi”. He claimed that the more people listen to the Congress leader at public rallies, the more likely they are to vote for the BJP.
The BJP MLA also made controversial remarks about Gandhi’s mental health, saying that he urgently needed mental health treatment.
The comments came amid political exchanges following Gandhi’s address at an INDIA bloc rally, reflecting the ongoing war of words between the BJP and the Congress.
Separately, Sarma spoke about the BJP Assam core committee meeting, describing it as a routine organisational exercise held every one or two months. He said the meeting would review the party’s organisational strength, activities over the previous three months and political strategy for the coming months.
He added that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior leaders would guide party members on upcoming programmes and discuss the prevailing political situation in Assam and across the country.
