November 5:Satyendra Pathak, who was injured in the shooting at Bilas Inn, has recounted the terrifying sequence of events that unfolded during the incident. After returning home, Pathak said a dispute over vehicle parking preceded the shooting, during which he was shot in the back while trying to escape.
According to Pathak, the road leading inside the hotel premises was narrow. With two hotels located in the area and customers frequently using the passage, they decided not to take their vehicle inside. Instead, they parked it some distance away and walked towards the hotel.
Pathak said Devorshi arrived and, unable to find space in the parking area, parked his vehicle a little further ahead beside a wall. Ghanakanta Gogoi arrived shortly afterwards, and an argument reportedly broke out between the two over the parking issue. Pathak said he could see them arguing but could not clearly hear their conversation.
He further stated that while they were near the hotel's main entrance, several people hurriedly entered the premises. Through the glass near the reception area, Pathak said he saw Gogoi holding a pistol and opening fire. According to his account, Helena and another person standing in front were shot.
As the firing began, Narayan Das asked Pathak to run. They rushed towards a computer repair shop located beside the hotel. Pathak entered the shop, while Narayan Das ran in another direction.
Pathak alleged that Gogoi first attacked Narayan Das and then returned towards the shop. He said Gogoi pushed the door and fired at him. The bullet struck him in the back, causing him to collapse.
People inside the shop urged him to get up and move outside. However, Pathak said he was completely disoriented and could not remember what he said or did immediately after being shot. He eventually managed to get up and come outside.
Asked whether the incident appeared to have been pre-planned, Pathak expressed his suspicion that it seemed to have been planned in advance. He added that based on his previous interactions with Gogoi, they had never imagined that such an incident could occur.
