Karnal, November 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday targeted Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his foreign visits, demanding that he disclose details of all his overseas trips.
Addressing a gathering during the BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign in Karnal, Haryana, Shah questioned Gandhi’s recent visit to Vietnam and asked him to explain the purpose and schedule of his foreign trips.
“You have just returned from Vietnam, but you do not talk about it. There should be transparency. Rahul ji, please give the public details of all your foreign visits. How many days were you in Vietnam, whom did you meet, why did you go there and what was your programme?” Shah said.
The Home Minister argued that people had the right to know about Gandhi’s foreign visits because he holds a constitutional position as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
“ You are holding a constitutional position. The public has the right to know,” Shah said.
Shah also responded to Gandhi’s repeated challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an open debate. Taking a swipe at the Congress leader, Shah said that if Gandhi wanted to debate on the streets, he could choose any crossroads in Haryana.
“Forget Modi ji, even my Yuva Morcha president is enough to discuss matters with you,” Shah said.
The BJP has been organising nationwide foot marches under the ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign against the INDIA bloc. Shah participated in one such march in Karnal and addressed a public meeting there on Thursday.
