hubri, November 7: The Congress has stepped up its demand for the rehabilitation of families rendered homeless following the eviction drive carried out by the district administration in Alamganj Ninth Block of Dhubri district.

A four-member delegation of Congress MLAs, led by Assam Assembly Opposition Leader and Birsing Jarua MLA Wazed Ali Choudhury, met the Dhubri District Commissioner and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate assistance and permanent rehabilitation for the affected families.

Through the memorandum, the Congress demanded urgent arrangements for food, drinking water and shelter for the displaced families, along with a guarantee of permanent rehabilitation. The delegation also urged the administration to protect the graveyards and mazars located in the evicted area.

Wazed Ali Choudhury also criticised the AIUDF, alleging that the party was spreading misinformation in the affected area. He claimed that Congress and its workers stood with the displaced families and would continue to fight for their rights through legal and political means.

The delegation included Wazed Ali Choudhury, Abdus Sobhan Ali Sarkar, Baby Begum and Ashraful Islam Sheikh.

The eviction drive has triggered reactions in the locality, with the Congress stating that it would continue its protest until the basic rights and justice of the displaced families were ensured.
