Delhi BJP MLA Ravi Negi objected to a scene in ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, a song from Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘KING’, in which Deepika Padukone wore a saffron-coloured outfit.

Negi, the BJP MLA from Delhi’s Patparganj constituency, demanded that the scene be removed from the song. He threatened nationwide protests and a boycott of the film if it was not removed.

“Nothing against Sanatan Dharma will be tolerated,” Negi said in a media interview.

He called Shah Rukh Khan a “jihadi” and alleged that the actor was tarnishing India’s image despite earning in the country. Negi said the use of saffron was an attempt to hurt religious sentiments and warned that Sanatani organisations would also protest.

The first song from ‘KING’, titled ‘Tu Mil Jaaye’, was released on November 2 to coincide with Shah Rukh Khan’s 61st birthday. The song showed Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone dancing together.

Discussion over Padukone’s saffron outfit began on social media before Negi’s comments turned it into a political row.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘KING’ also features Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on December 24, 2026.
