New Delhi, November 6: The Supreme Court will hear four bail-related matters in the Zubeen Garg death case on November 30. The hearing was scheduled for Friday, November 6, but was postponed.

The matters include the bail applications of Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddhartha Sharma. The court will also hear matters related to the bail granted to Amritprabha Mahanta and Sandipan Garg.

The Gauhati High Court has already granted bail to Amritprabha Mahanta and Sandipan Garg. However, the Assam government has challenged both orders in the Supreme Court. CID Special Director General and SIT chief Munna Prasad Gupta confirmed the government’s decision on October 18.

Sandipan Garg is a suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Assam Police and a relative of Zubeen Garg. He was arrested by the Special Investigation Team in connection with the case. Amritprabha Mahanta is also an accused in the case.

Shyamkanu Mahanta, organiser of the North East India Festival, and Siddhartha Sharma are also accused. Earlier, the Supreme Court had directed the Assam government to ensure that the trial against Shyamkanu Mahanta was completed quickly and properly.

The trial is currently underway in a fast-track court. According to SIT chief Munna Prasad Gupta, the court had recorded the statements of 134 witnesses by October 18.

Zubeen Garg died on September 19, 2025, while swimming in the sea in Singapore. He had travelled there to attend the North East India Festival and was scheduled to perform at the event the following day.

His death led to widespread protests and demands for a proper investigation across Assam. The state government later formed a Special Investigation Team to probe the case.
